My turn to focus

Thanks for including me girls! It is really time for me to focus...and I mean it this time. The recent health scare of my dad with the quadruple bypass surgery has really gotten me thinking about the importance of taking better care of myself now. I am going to need a lot of support from you guys. My first goal is to get back to tracking everything I eat. My biggest challenge is sticking with it, but I am going to go with Jossie and do "one day at a time."

Let me know when you need a work out partner, sounds like we could use each others help. :) Some days the most I can do is walk, but its better than nothing.

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME Kathryn!!!

You have all the support you need from me. I'll even volunteer to go to your house as a "health police" and see what foods you have in your house that you shouldn't :-)

Healthy food can be delicious...you just have to train your brain and taste buds to adjust.

I know EXACTLY how you feel about your dad. Like I mentioned to you before, my dad had a triple (or quadruple?) bypass about 5 years ago and it was a very scary thing for my entire family. I absolutely refuse to put my family and myself through that again because I didn't take action. My dad always knew what he needed to do, he's a surgeon and knows about health (btw he used to be a Karate instructor but didn't exercise much for the past 15 years), but a doctor can't get heart disease right....WRONG! "Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both women and men in the United States." (http://www.cdc.gov/heartdisease/facts.htm)

My dad changed his life around. He walks at least 5 miles a day and eats healthier than ever. He doesn't even have to take his heart medication anymore because he's made a 180 degree turn. That's what I plan to do with my life now before I am forced to do it.
